GTECH CORPORATION, A LOTTOMATICA SUBSIDIARY, SELECTED TO RECEIVE NEW ONLINE/INSTANTS INTEGRATED SERVICES CONTRACT FROM THE WEST VIRGINIA LOTTERY, FOLLOWING COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT

ANTICIPATED REVENUES TO GTECH OF APPROXIMATELY US$40 MILLION OVER FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT TERM

ROME (ITALY) - PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (US), January 15, 2008 -  Lottomatica S.p.A. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, GTECH Corporation, has been chosen by the West Virginia Lottery to receive a five-year integrated services contract to provide a new online and instant gaming system, terminals, a new telecommunications network, self-service lottery products, and related ongoing services.  This contract award, which is expected to commence on July 1, 2008, follows a competitive procurement and includes two one-year extension options.  GTECH expects to receive approximately US$40 million in revenues over the five-year term.

"We are pleased to have been selected by the West Virginia Lottery," said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel.  "Our success in this procurement is particularly gratifying in that the procurement placed an emphasis on the added value and quality of the proposed technological solution. It is also a strategically important win for GTECH in that the contract had been held by a competitor."

Under the terms of the purchase order, GTECH will provide the West Virginia Lottery with the Company's Enterprise SeriesT solution, offering online and instant-ticket management, and approximately 2,000 Altura ® lottery terminals.  A new wireless communications network will also be installed by the Company.  GTECH will also provide ongoing services including installation and maintenance of the central system, terminals, and communications network; field service; retailer training; a statewide sales force and call center services.

The Request for Proposal (RFP) called for a variety of other optional lottery-related products, such as KENO monitors and LED displays, which are subject to further negotiations.
