PRONOSTICOS PARA LA ASISTENCIA PUBLICA EXPANDS POINTS-OF-SALE NETWORK WITH GTECH’S ONLINE, IN-LANE LOTTERY SOLUTION

15,000 NEW DISTRIBUTION POINTS ADDED

PROVIDENCE, RI – (June 04, 2008) – GTECH Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A., announced that Pronosticos para la Asistencia Publica will substantially increase its online lottery ticket sales points from 9,000 dedicated points-of-sale (POS) to over 24,000 POS with GTECH's online, in-lane solution – Lottery Inside.

GTECH and Pronosticos have teamed up with Soriana Corporation, a grocery, department, and retail chain headquartered in Monterrey , Nuevo León , Mexico , to sell online lottery tickets through the stores' existing cash registers. This in-lane solution incorporates elements of GTECH's Lottery Inside offering, which provides retailers the ability to process lottery transactions through non-lottery dedicated POS devices. Lottery players will now be able to purchase a quick-pick version of the popular and successful Melate/Revancha lotto game, Meláticos, at one of the many Soriana retail locations.

On May 26, 2008, 370 Soriana retail locations in Monterrey began selling Meláticos in 14,000 check-out lanes. In all, a total of 470 retail locations will sell the quick-pick lottery tickets through 15,000 check-out lanes at Soriana locations.

“ GTECH, Pronosticos, and Soriana took an innovative approach to rapid retail expansion in high-volume supermarkets by opening up thousands of points-of-sale, making the lottery accessible for the first time to all shoppers. Our Lottery Inside solution improves player convenience, offers ease of execution for retailers, and represents a great opportunity to generate significant sales from existing and new players,” said Connie Laverty O'Connor, GTECH Chief Marketing Officer. “ We are proud to support our customer with this tremendous collaborative innovation and flawless execution by the implementation team across our three organizations.”

“This project is evidence of our partnership with retailers and our focus on advanced solutions in new points-of-sale,” said Adolfo Felipe Blanco Tatto, Lottery Director of Pronosticos. “The only barrier that holds us back is ourselves. We must be innovative, willing to take risks, and embrace information technology advancements in the 21st century.”

Pronosticos has implemented an extensive marketing plan including a new advertising campaign complete with both in-store POS merchandising and radio spots. Soriana currently operates under the brands Clubes City Club, Hipermart, Mercado Soriana, Soriana and Super City , which is the company's convenience store division brand. The Lottery has dispersed their marketing efforts equally across these different brands.

Soriana is 100% capitalized in Mexico and is publicly traded on the Mexican stock exchange the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, since 1987 under the symbol: “Soriana.” As of December 6, 2007, the Soriana Organization acquired Supermercados Gigante for US$1.35 billion. In 2008, Soriana will replace the existing Gigante stores including its seven stores in U.S. Currently the company has 479 locations distributed throughout 120 cities across the length and breadth of the entire republic, has 17 distribution centers, and is a source of employment for 83,000 employees.
