GTECH SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES KENO IN OHIO


COMPANY EQUIPS MORE THAN 900 OHIO LOTTERY RETAILERS TO SELL KENO IN AN IMPRESSIVE 35-DAY ROLLOUT

PROVIDENCE, RI – (August 11, 2008) – GTECH Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A., announced that the Company installed Keno at over 900 Ohio Lottery retailers including bars and taverns, bowling alleys, restaurants, racetracks, and other locations across Ohio.  The majority of these locations represent a new retailer base for the Ohio Lottery.

Patel.  “This is prime example of the GTECH team working together with the Lottery to expand the retailer base in Ohio.  We implemented Keno at more than 900 locations, many of which are new retailers that the Lottery sales force recruited in just a short time period.”

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland endorsed Keno as a means of generating extra revenue to help close the state’s budget gap earlier this spring.  The State Controlling Board approved the purchase of Keno equipment on May 5.  GTECH teams began installing new lottery equipment to qualified retailers on June 30 and completed this first phase of installation on August 3, with the first drawing occurring on Monday, August 4.

GTECH installed new Altura® terminals, Keno monitors, Ticket-Scan™ machines (the Company's self-service ticket-checker product), and a VSAT communications network.  Additionally, GTECH trained retailers on how to use the new lottery equipment including instruction on accounting procedures, ticket activation and deactivation, and how Keno is played.

Keno is one of the highest performing online lottery games, in terms of per capita sales.  With more than 30 Keno deployments worldwide, GTECH also provided end-to-end consultancy services to the Lottery, including best practices in appropriate social destination marketing positioning, advertising, and promotions.
