LOTTOMATICA’S GTECH SUBSIDIARY SIGNS TWO-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH THE ILLINOIS LOTTERY

ANTICIPATED REVENUES TO GTECH OF APPROXIMATELY $70 MILLION, COMMENCING IN THE FOURTH QUARTER OF 2008

ROME (ITALY) - PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.), - October 09, 2008 - Lottomatica S.p.A.’s wholly-owned subsidiary GTECH Corporation announced it has signed a two-year contract extension to continue providing online lottery products and services to the Illinois Lottery through October 17, 2010. GTECH has provided lottery products and services to the Illinois Lottery since 1989. The two-year contract extension is expected to generate revenues to GTECH of approximately $70 million, commencing in the fourth quarter of 2008.

“As one of the most efficient lotteries in the world, the Illinois Lottery recognizes the value of GTECH’s commitment to providing the highest quality products and comprehensive services to its customers,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “We look forward to continuing our partnership, while assisting the Lottery in providing vital funds for Illinois’ education programs.”

Under the terms of the extension, GTECH will continue to provide the Illinois Lottery with central system operation and maintenance; terminal maintenance; communications network management; marketing support; and retailer training.

With its most recent annual sales of more than $2.06 billion, the Illinois Lottery generated $657 million for Illinois public education, last year alone.
