GTECH TO PROVIDE THE MARYLAND LOTTERY WITH APPROXIMATELY 1,000 NEW INSTANT-TICKET VENDING MACHINES, FOLLOWING COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (U.S.) – November 6, 2008 - GTECH Corporation announced that it has been chosen by the Maryland Lottery to provide and service approximately 1,000 new Instant-Ticket Vending Machines. The five-year contract, which also includes five one-year extension options, is expected to commence in November 2008, and follows a competitive procurement. GTECH expects to receive revenues of approximately $12 million over the five-year term, commencing in the first quarter of 2009.

Patel. “GTECH’s Instant to Go provides the most reliable dispensing system combined with the best visual display in the industry. Instant to Go will give the Maryland Lottery the versatility to customize their ticket bin configuration, thus expanding inventory possibilities and variety of games available to players to reliably and consistently increase instant-ticket sales and corresponding revenue for the Maryland General fund.”

Under the terms of the contract, GTECH will provide the Maryland Lottery with approximately 1,000 Instant to Go™ machines, replacing existing machines in the field. Over the duration of the contract, GTECH will also provide ongoing maintenance and support services. Through its acquisition of Interlott Technologies in 2003, GTECH has been providing instant-ticket vending machines to the Maryland Lottery since 1998.
